Frequently asked questions
Have a different question and can’t find the answer you’re looking for? Reach out by sending us an email and we’ll get back to you as soon as we can.
- Does it compare formatting?
- No. The text is extracted from each document and compared, so changes to fonts, colours, styles or layout are not shown. Images are ignored.
- Can I compare .doc files?
- Not directly. Open the file in Word and save it as .docx, or copy the text and paste it into the editors.
- Are my documents uploaded?
- Files are read and compared in your browser. Nothing is sent to our servers unless you choose to save or share a diff.
- How are tables handled?
- Each table cell is extracted as plain text on its own line, so changed cell contents still show up in the comparison.
- Can I compare a Word document with a PDF?
- Yes. Each side accepts any supported file type, so you can upload a .docx as the original and a PDF as the changed version.
